Samenvatting

An overview of the tests used in the French method for type testing of bituminous mixtures is presented. Some results and specifications are provided as illustrative examples. The paper consists of three parts: (1) the general procedure for type testing; (2) the voids content and the role of the gyratory compactor; and (3) the mechanical properties of the mix.
