Samenvatting

The complexity of the study and reconstruction of traffic accidents justifies the creation of tools which make easier the research in that area. Therefore, the GIVET has developed a dynamic simulation program called SINRAT III. Using this program, it is possible to: (1) reproduce the evolution of two vehicles involved in a collision; (2) analyze the precollision and postcollision movements; and (3) study what happens during the contact and deformation of the vehicles in the collision stage. The simulation model is integrated by bodies developed using the bond graph technique, that simulates the dynamic behaviour of the vehicle in any circumstance. The paper also presents an application of SINRAT III to the reconstruction of a collision between a car and a coach.
