Samenvatting

Aortic injuries have been conventionally associated with frontal impacts. However, side-impact crashes are at a greater risk of aortic injuries, especially if the occupant was unbelted and involved in a crash of high impact severity. This paper will use in-depth real-world motor vehicle cash data from the United States and United Kingdom to assess the incidence and risk factors associated with thoracic aorta injuries.
