Samenvatting

Self-motion perception causes an increase in times required to detect simultaneous target-motion by a factor of 1, 5 to 3 depending upon the different stimulus conditions, which induced the sensation of self-motion in a series of pilot experiments. This new phenomenon was also found under real road conditions, where drivers' responses to changes in headway were determined.
