Samenvatting

This paper presents a trip chaining system of disaggregated mobility and travel models; the system is an operational model and shares their basic assumptions, but also has several distinctive features. The proposed models include a significant amount of individual and household socio-economic variables, so that aggregated origin-destination matrices should be produced using a sample enumeration aggregation procedure. The architecture of this model system includes two separate and interacting model subsystems, that are related to the dimensions of mobility and travel choice. The mathematical model system was calibrated and applied to a study area in Salerno, Italy. To obtain the model's database, data on travel demand were database, data on travel demand were obtained from different surveys: (1) roadside interviews; (2) vehicle counts; and (3) household interviews. The road network was classified into motorways and ordinary roads. Some calibration results are presented for choice of: (1) residential location; (2) licence holding; (3) car ownership; (4) trip frequency; (5) primary destination; and (6) tour type. Secondary destination and modal choice models are also outlined.
