Samenvatting
In the context of the DRIVE- project CHRISTIANE "Motorway Traffic Flow Monitoring and Control" control, a field- trial was carried out with two metering strategies at the Coen- tunnel. The first strategy was developed by Rijkswater- staat and is called the RWS- strategy, the second strategy was developed in France and is called the ALINEA- strategy. The paper describes the context of the experiment, the principles of both strategies, the setup of the experiment, the assessment and the results. These show to be in favour of the ALINEA- strategy.
