Samenvatting
As a result of a technological innovation and development of new applications, as well as the extensive system design possibilities with new generations of tolling and enforcement systems, new ITS applications are available. New applications include European payment schemes, traffic data collection, wrong way driver detection, and emergency services. In addition the goal of interoperability for all European tolling systems can be supported. In the view of the new Eurovignette Directive, the Interoperability Directive, and Road Safety demands, interesting approaches are feasible to introduce effective tolling systems and additional ITS applications, that comply with the demanding EU regulations.
