Transportation can be seen as a total social experience which includes physical movement of a person or an object. There are seven parts of total transportation as a social concept which will be discussed here. They are: 1- need for the service 2- the framework of service 3- familiarity with alternatives to fill the perceived need 4- initial contact with the service alternatives 5- modal choice 6- in-transit experiences 7- post-transit experiences.
