Samenvatting

The consistent introduction of high-quality ITS services widely across the TERN allows to meet rising traffic demand while eliminating cross-border effects. To support these services, interoperable and language-independent data exchange mechanisms need to be put in place between traffic centres across borders. In close co-operation with the EU Member States, the EDEN project is therefore promoting the Europe-wide implementation of DATEX-Net, a result from the European R&D programmes, by clearing practical obstacles at the strategic and operational level. Amongst the EDEN project results are a consensus-building effort amongst the Member States to use the DATEX-Net specifications version 1.1 and to agree on core Europe-wide support to maintain and fully exploit the DATEX-Net network, a proposed organisational architecture as well as a directory of key organisations (including traffic centres and available information products) and model bi-lateral agreements between traffic centres.
