Samenvatting

In discussions about electric cars it is often heard that these cars would be so much better if only better batteries were available. A successful electric car only works in actual practice if the lead-acid battery is fully accepted as inevitable and if the car is designed around the peculiarities of such a battery. In this paper these peculiarities are listed. It is shown how the design can be shaped around them to arrive at a practical electric car. Such a car is made and has now 50.000 km. road experience.
