Samenvatting

The basic theme is the potential for accident reduction in New Zealand (Christchurch in particular) and how to achieve it.Internationally, Christchurch and New Zealand appear to be poor performers in road safety. However, some accident reduction measures appear to be working well, despite accident migration and a poor understanding of driver characteristics. The relatively high risk of fatality in New Zealand is discussed.
