The traffic conflicts theory is a relatively new method of identifying and evaluating potential accident sites. It seeks to analyze the interaction of the driver, vehicle and roadway at intersections, in order to determine detectable measures of traffic characteristics that could develop into accidents. In this study the technique was applied to two Y-type rural intersections.
