The authors indicate that orange signs are slightly more effective than yellow signs but, significantly, they emphasize the importance of new or well-maintained signs in attracting the attention of motorists. A trip by automobile across the U.S.A. indicates that more attention should be given to improving the appearance of signs in daily use.
