The training and accreditation of traffic control personnel across Australia is not currently transferrable from one jurisdiction to another. The project has reviewed the requirements for adopting a national training package for traffic control at roadwork sites and has developed a framework that could be applied by all states and territories. If adopted, this framework would improve the transportability of skills and experience gained by personnel involved in traffic control at roadwork sites. This would reduce the cost to industry to retrain personnel, would improve the standard and consistency across the industry, and reduce the cost of training and delays in this high demand area of road construction and maintenance.
