Samenvatting

A double slit camera for use in traffic flow measurement is described. Most of road traffic can be considered as one directional motion parallel to the road direction. Therefore, a single slit camera is suited for one dimensional traffic recording and one dimensional traffic measurement. However, it is not easy to extract speed information from this single slit image. The two slit camera enables the extraction of information about the speed of each vehicle. The speed information is used to adjust the time axis distortion and a corrected top view of each vehicle is used for the vehicle identification. Scale down experiments using radio control cars and a video camera were used to illustrate the system. (A)
