Samenvatting
Traffic legislation for the pedestrian does exist in South Africa, particulars of which are given, but because of the non-enforcement of these rules, pedestrians tend to ignore them, irrespective of the hazardous consequences to their personal safety. These are the findings of on- the-spot accident investigations and pedestrian observation studies in urban areas. Some problems of enforcing pedestrian rules are discussed and the introduction of a legal B.A.C. for pedestrians is suggested.
