Samenvatting

The purpose of the measuring system described in this paper is to determine movements by vehicles in traffic. Two video cameras record movements simultaneously from different angles. The location of the cameras and of two fixed points visible from the cameras must be known. Vehicles are tracked on the two tapes successively and the position on the screens (pixel numbers) are recorded at short time intervals. From these data positions and speeds are calculated. Expected errors are found to be 10-30 cm when camera distances to study object are 50-100 m. The equipment is well suited for a number of road user behaviour studies. (A)
