Samenvatting

Traffic and safety management has not been established in the Slovak Republic till today, but it is being started. In the Slovak Republic the theoretical base for traffic and safety management will be prepared for EU 12 and east countries because of possible comparisons between various countries in Europe. The research results from safety statistics and specially conducted measurements (driver speed, driver's pulse, radius of a curve, width of carriageway...) give the possibility of controlling existing roads or planning for new roads from the point of view of safety and driver behaviour. Finally, the report will give an idea about the procedures used for traffic calming, speed limit and pedestrians (cyclists) priority in a traffic area for the next 20 years. (A)
