Samenvatting
This document is aimed at helping those who are responsible for the management, improvement or design of urban or rural roads. It should enable them to achieve a better assessment of the safety of a new road project or of an improvement scheme, but also of an existing road, based on the characteristics of the road, its environment and its use (thus complementing the data obtained from an analysis of local accidents of the existing roads). The present document covers technical information. It sets out the results known to date of the studies and research in road safety. It is worth noting that these results will inevitably evolve with time, as knowledge in this field develops continuously. (Author/publisher)
