Samenvatting
The paper describes the new Cologne system approach to integrated urban traffic management. It is a hierarchically organized system with a central management computer and different allocated operative and informative sub-systems. New elements in the Cologne implementation are: a) the integration of urban traffic signal control by MOTION; b) collective driver information based on variable message signs; and c) pre- and on-trip user information systems.
