Samenvatting

TRB’s Transportation Research Record: Journal of the Transportation Research Board, No. 2352 consists of 17 papers that explore operations of a taxi fleet using electric vehicles and charging stations; implementation costs of electric transit bus systems; improving rail station access with feeder bus network optimization and mode shifts; where to implement bus signal priority in mixed-mode operations; and road safety benefits from bus priority. This issue of the TRR also examines designing bus rapid transit facilities for constrained urban arterials; the standardization of bus transit automatic vehicle location data; measuring bus stop dwell time and time lost serving stops; a transit assignment model incorporating bus dwell time; the optimal location of bus stops; and dynamic holding strategy to prevent buses from bunching. Also addressed in this TRR are public transport time-tabling based on maximum-load points; the impact of concessionary bus travel on the well-being of older and disabled people; planning dial-a-ride services; a comparison of fixed-route and demand-responsive feeder transit systems; general-public demand-responsive transit; and the spatial effects on demand estimation of Americans with Disabilities Act paratransit services.
