Samenvatting

Research into noise and vibration from rail transit experienced a golden age in the 1970s and 1980s, with work on elevated structures, wheel-rail interaction, vehicle interior noise, floating slab track, and more. Although much progress has been made over the past 30 years, research continues to be needed in several areas, including wheel squeal, rail undulation, criteria for the impact of rail transit vibration on humans and structures, and grade crossings.
