Samenvatting

Transport for London's (TfL) continues to monitor the performance of technologies that may enhance congestion charging and road pricing. Global navigations satellite systems (GNSS) are one area of investigation. In this paper, TfL presents the work it has undertaken with the European Space Agency (ESA) to extend and apply GMV's GNSS simulation tools (Polaris). Using Polaris, TfL have been able to simulate the performance improvement that might be expected, on particular streets in London, as Galileo is deployed. This has enhanced TfL's ability to plan for a time when GNSS based road user charging becomes technically feasible in London. For the covering abstract see ITRD E134653.
