Samenvatting

This report describes the outcome of the PARIS project (Performance Analysis of Road InfraStructure). The project was aimed at developing European pavement deterioration models for use in pavement management systems. Historical pavement condition data and data collected during the course of the project from the fifteen participating countries were collated, stored in a central database, normalised and analysed to yield the models. For countries with limited historical distress data, a dedicated validation of the models was performed in the final phase of the project. An overview of the project is presented, detailing the goals and objectives and the available resources and specifying how the project was executed. Next, the data sources for the project are described, distinguishing between so-called Real-Time Loading Testing and Accelerated Loading Testing. The historical pavement condition data from the fifteen participating countries were assessed for their applicability in the PARIS analysis, resulting in a selected set of over 700 test sections. Additional sections were selected later for the validation of the crack initiation model, bringing the total number of sections in the project to over 900. The methodology developed to normalise the pavement condition data from the fifteen countries is presented, followed by a description of the database developed to store the normalised data. Next, the analysis system applied in the project is detailed, followed by a description of the pavement deterioration models, which is the main output of the project. The validation of these models using data from four of the fifteen participating countries is described, followed by the overall conclusions of the project. (A)
