TTS Division has responsibilities for research under three major programmes - transport technology and standards; reducing congestion; and, choice and public transport. This compendium contains information only about projects that have been part of the transport technology and standards programme during the year 2004/2005. However, it is expected that the next compendium will include information about the research under both the reducing congestion programme and the choice and public transport programme, which has been foreseen in the planned research for 2005/6. A number of projects that were included in the 2003/2004 compendium as ongoing have been allocated to other divisions as part of restructuring. These projects are listed in Annex A, and any enquiries concerning their progress should be addressed to the relevant contacts given. In addition, a number of projects have been included, which relate to the new areas of responsibility of TTS, primarily in the field of intelligent transport systems. The projects detailed in this compendium are grouped according to general themes. For each theme both recently completed and ongoing projects are listed. All reports, papers, etc mentioned in this compendium may be obtained in the first instance from the contractor, or from TTS. A list of contractors, with contact details, who have undertaken the research projects can be found at Annex B.
