This is the third in the annual series of Transport Trends which provides some discussion of the statistics compiled for the Transport Statistics Great Britain report. It is in two parts. Part 1 comprises 8 articles: (1) transport in an ageing society (Mitchell, K.); (2) travel characteristics of older people (Noble, B.); (3) some implications for road safety of an ageing population (Mitchell, K.); (4) household expenditure on transport (Aldous, E.); (5) traffic trends (Macafee, K.); (6) characteristics of the escort education journey (Dickson, M.); (7) using omnibus surveys to investigate travel (Noble, B., Dickson, M., Gershuny, J. and Fugeman, D.); and (8) development of United Kingdom maritime freight transport statistics (Sutcliffe, P. and Reynolds, S.). Part two of the document gives tables and charts of trends in transport indicators.
