Samenvatting

The Rotary International Convention is one of the largest conventions that is hosted in different countries around the world each year. This paper explores the transport management arrangements for the Convention. Challenges that needed to be overcome in delivering the transport plan included sourcing sufficient buses and coaches to provide the necessary services during the normal city weekday peak periods, and the scheduling of the opening match at a nearby newly re-developed major football stadium for the same time as the convention’s opening sessions. Temporary infrastructure such as a major bus port and a transport management centre were established in a cost effective, yet functional manner.
