Implementing a transportation management center (TMC) is a challenging task. Many design decisions must be made, impacting potentially millions of dollars of systems and infrastructure, and greatly influencing the effectiveness and efficiency of operations for many years. An adequate number of sites and years of operations experience are now available to furnish valuable information to agencies undertaking the design of their own facilities. USDOT has instituted a study program composed of case studies, cross-cutting studies, and implementation guides to gather such information and make it widely available to agencies undertaking TMC deployment. This paper contains synthesized findings from a review of 8 TMCs in the United States and Canada. (A*)
