Samenvatting

Today, transportation professionals find themselves working in a complex world. They strive to balance the needs of a broad range of transportation users within diverse neighborhoods and contexts. To succeed, transportation systems must enhance the communities they serve by providing safe access and mobility to all neighborhoods, business districts, regions, suburbs and rural areas. Transportation systems must also accommodate all system users — automobiles, freight, buses, rail, pedestrians and bicyclists — including travelers of all ages and abilities. Meeting the complex needs of this diverse set of stakeholders and shaping successful and livable places requires multidisciplinary partnerships inclusive of the communities being served.
