The technical issues related to the integration of travel information systems are, in large measure, resolved. Where integration has taken place, the key issues still undecided have been administrative and financial. Important questions include payment for data, quality controls, neutrality of access and display, and barriers to entry of third parties to the integrated system. This short paper identifies and assesses the policy concerns facing the integration of travel information systems, and by way of example discusses the approach being taken in Scotland. (A)
