Samenvatting

Data collected during the global transportation survey, carried out by DREIF (the Engineering and Construction Regional Management of the Ile de France Region) in 1983 with the support of INSEE (French National Institute of Economic and Statistical Information) were analyzed to determine the evolution of the travelling patterns of the Ile de France inhabitants (representative sample of 13, 245 households). The specifics of the individuals who did not travel the day before the survey owing to a permanent physical disability (5% of the whole population, i.e. about 50% of the causes for not travelling) were analyzed. Sex, age, professional status and domicile location were the parameters selected for the analysis. Women, elderly people, unemployed people and those living in the suburbs were found to be likely people to remain at home.
