Samenvatting

This paper describes the evaluation of a model for estimating travel times. The model has been applied on motorway sections in the GERDIEN project. The paper describes the context in which the model is applied. Descriptions are given of both the model and of the evaluation data. The evaluation data set covers traffic situations with both `normal' congestion and congestion due to accidents. For cases with normal congestion, the observed and estimated travel times are very close. In cases with accidents the travel time estimates showed large deviations. However, in these cases there were no travel time observations to verify the correctness. (A)
