Travel times on inter-urban motorways : on-line estimation and drivers information needs : some results in France.

Studies on the implementation of travel time information on inter-urban motorways are being conducted in France. This paper gives a presentation of first results obtained on travel time calculation methods using loop-based traffic flow measurements together with results of surveys made among road users about the nature and the presentation of such information along motorways. These results have been considered encouraging and future plans include real experiments during heavy traffic periods.
