Samenvatting

In 1987 we started with a research project on 26 road sections located in 3 regions with different climate conditions (hard and moderate winters), with different road constructions and various materials in subbase. For all test sections we collected: 1) inventory data-location, structure; 2) laboratory tests of materials in road constructions and of that from subbase; 3) monitoring data-distress and deflection measuring with deflectograph Lacroix; 4) traffic data; 5) environmental data hydrogeological data of the surroundings of test sections; 6) maintenance and rehabilitation data. Our aim was definition of seasonal, material and regional factor influencing bearing capacity results. Some conclusions are: 1) good seasonal differences between bearing capacity results by time were not found mainly because no thaw period appeared in the project time; 2) in situ and laboratory tests on soils showed an important decrease in dry density and bearing capacity of solid materials in road construction and an important decrease in quality of base materials; 3) it was decided to buy different laboratory equipment and falling weight deflectometer (FWD) to make dynamic investigations of materials and road constructions in next years.
