Trend and future of vehicle safety technology.

Samenvatting

In this paper, trends in the use of electronics in vehicle safety technology in Japan are outlined. Uses include equipment for improving vehicle handling, warning systems, and driver information systems. Typical systems are discussed and the development of two systems is highlighted. These are: (a) the Road and Automobile Communication System (RACS), developed by the Ministry of Construction between 1986 and 1989; and (b) the Advanced Mobile Traffic Information and Communication System (AMTICS), implemented by the National Police Agency during 1988 and 1989. The french title of this paper is `Tendance et avenir de la technologie de sécurité des véhicules'. The german title of this paper is `Entwicklungstendenzen und Zukunft der Sicherheitstechnologie für Fahrzeuge'.
