In common transportation policy consumer preferences are often disregarded. In this study, started in 1996, marketing has been the starting point for the design of a transportation system through consumer preferences in 2025. The first part of the study, which resulted in an optimum transport system from the consumer point of view, was completed in June 1997. The result was a strongly differentiated transportation system in terms of speed, comfort and cost, for individual systems and for collective transport systems. In the second part of the study, which is now under way, the feasibility of the optimal system is examined.
