Samenvatting
This article describes the rejection of new regulations in the USA covering truck drivers' working hours. The original proposals by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) had included the extension of drivers' rest periods and the requirement for electronic recorders to monitor driving hours. When the final rule was issued, the total allowable work hours had been increased and the on-board recorders were no longer required. The Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia rejected the new rule and highlighted concerns on safety issues.
