Samenvatting

Two alternative procedures for estimating sales of a product category in retail stores are discussed. One, the first or standard procedure, involves drawing a sample from the universe of all stores, determining the category's sales in each store and projecting these sales to the total universe. The second calls for defining the universe as those outlets carrying the product category, drawing the sample from this restricted universe and projecting sales to this smaller one.
