Samenvatting
The object of this research was to investigate the dependence of the number and type of accident on traffic volume for a section of Autobahn in W. Germany. Particular emphasis was placed on rear end collisions which on German motorways constitute a large percentage of all accidents. An attempt was made to find an explanation for this in terms of the interrelationship between headway and traffic volume.
