To develop and judge the policy measures it is necessary to adequately monitor trends in mobility. However, the Mobility Survey conducted by Statistics Netherlands, the largest survey on the subject, can not respond to the demands for detailed data. For the regionalized subjects the amount of data necessary to arrive at statistically sound information is lacking. Starting in 1994 the enlarged survey will be able to cope with demands on the use of public transport and mobility at the regional level. At the same time, the survey is extended with data on mobility pattern of children, postcodal information on origin-destination, use of public transport and carpooling. (A)
