The purpose of collision protection equipment is to warn the driver for the danger of a collision with another vehicle. The method described is based upon the reflection principle whereby part of the signal transmitted by the measuring instrument is reflected by the measured object and used for the determination of relative speed and distance. Microwave, optical and supersonic wave sensors are compared.
