Samenvatting

The driving pattern of light trucks in the Melbourne metropolitan area were measured by following trucks in an instrumented car. The routes used by the trucks surveyed comprise over 50 per cent of the arterial routes in Melbourne. In addition to the speed- time profile, the altitude of the test vehicle and the weight and the load condition of the trucks were recorded. Micro- trips from all the survey data were combined in a joint speed and acceleration probability density surface. A driving cycle of 20 minutes duration and consisting of level road microtrips was synthesised.
