Samenvatting

Traffic approaching, passing through, and leaving a four-way controlled intersection was simulated. Driver, vehicle, and environmental characteristics were taken into account with emphasis on the driver. The simulation included all vehicles within some predetermined distance from the intersection. Vehicles arrived according to a predetermined distribution (any arrival distribution can be simulated), and each driver was represented by a set of perceptual, decision-making, and response processes. Where possible, experimental data were used for driver characteristics. Assumptions were used when experimental data were unavailable. Driver and vehicle characteristics can be varied to simualte any distribution. /author/.
