Urban road traffic accident data collection and treatment : recommendations for developing countries.

This chapter has its origin in a work that is being developed in Brazil, in particular, in the metropolitan region of Belo Horizonte, with the purpose of providing the local traffic authority with a modern methodology for traffic accident studies. Brazil and many other developing countries have been experiencing deterioration of traffic safety conditions during the last years. In order to revert such situation developing countries must take advantage of the accumulated experience of developed countries, trying to adapt the new technologies of traffic safety to their reality.
