Samenvatting

The objective of this paper is to analyse accessibility levels within a medium sized city in a developing country (Brazil), comparing the results with income level data of the population. The basic assumption was that, although accessibility of all social categories is necessary to ensure their integration into the city life, this characteristic is not equally distributed in cities of developing countries. The analysis performed here, however, does not indicate a strong relationship between the accessibility values and the average income per zone, going against the initial hypothesis. (A) The French title of the paper is: "Accessibilité des transports urbains et injustice sociale dans un pays en développement".
