During the last five years seven out of the eight Australian states and territories have introduced some form of legislation to increase the protection of children travelling in cars. Child restraint fitting and wearing rates as observed in roadside surveys have been used to compare the different forms of legislation that have been introduced and to review the effectiveness of post-legislation publicity campaigns. Recommendations for future action to further improve the protection of child car occupants conclude the paper (A). The number of the covering abstract of the conference is IRRD 255236.
