Samenvatting

The comparison of accident frequencies before and after some change in the road system is a means of finding whether the change is having a beneficial effect on road safety. To decide whether the change is statistically significant the chi- squared test is usually employed. The use of the chi-squared distribution in giving a sample formula for fixing the length of a before and after experiment is described.
