Samenvatting

During the period November 1989 to October 1990, monthly measurements were carried out to study the use of daytime running lights (DRL) by motor-vehicles at 26 different locations in The Netherlands (See also C 55). An important conclusion is that light intensity appears to be the principal variable (for a large group of drivers) explaining variations in the measured use of DRL. Furthermore, recommendations are given on the basis of the analysis of the first twelve months of measurement.
