Samenvatting

The application of foamed cement to road bank construction is one of the safest and most economical construction methods. The foamed cement is much lighter and compaction free, and has characteristics of being self supporting after hardening. By using this material, reduction of embankment load, economical placement and construction of fill with a vertical face can be achieved. In this paper, the characteristics of foamed cement and some examples of its application to road construction are presented. Moreover, design and execution methods which have been used in widening roads on mountain slopes are described in some detail. Finally, some problems in using this method for road construction and further possibilities of applying this method to difficult construction sites are addressed. (A)
