Samenvatting

This paper presents the results of a Stated Preference (SP) survey carried out in Thessaloniki, Greece, with the aim of evaluating the behaviour of trip makers towards new generation Public Transport Information Systems. The main goal of the survey was to investigate the reactions of the potential users of the system in qualitative and quantitative terms, including their willingness to pay higher fares due to the introduction of such a new system. The prototype Passenger Information System, called THEPIS, was designed and developed within the Eurobus/Popins research project, which was launched in the Advanced Transport Telematics Programme (ATT) of the European Union. The SP survey carried out deals with the behavioural analysis of the future users before the implementation and operation of the system. The findings of that analysis need to be tested against the findings of a similar evaluation after the implementation and operation of the system.
